Lawrence Parker, who performs and releases music as KRS One, is a rapper from New York City. Initially rising to notoriety as a member of the group Boogie Down Productions in the mid-1980s, Parker would eventually strike out on his own and release his debut solo album, Return of the Boom Bap, in 1993. Known for his politically charged lyrics, Parker has been praised for his ability to give real life issues a platform in his music.
