FK Ventspils is one of the most successful football clubs in Latvia and can be seen competing in the Virsliga. It was founded in 1997 when FK Nafta and FK Venta, joined forces to play as a single entity. It scored its first major win, the Latvian Cup, in 2003. The club’s popularity and respect in the game kept increasing with every hard-earned Virslīga title and Latvian Cup. It is based in the city of Ventspils and plays its home games at the Ventspils Olimpiskais Stadions.
