Formed in 1938, Sanfrecce Hiroshima is a football club from Asaminami-ku that competes in the J1 League. It is one of the most successful clubs in Japan with several accolades to its credit including prestigious trophies such as the J1 League, Japanese Super Cup, Japan Soccer League and also clinched the third place at the 2015 FIFA Club World Cup. The club plays its home fixtures at the Edion Stadium Hiroshima and boast notable alumni such as Hisato Satō, Tomoaki Makino and Takuya Takagi.
