Jose Peña Suazo is a singer/songwriter from Cotuí, Dominican Republic who specializes in performing merengue music, a style of Latin music that's indigenous to the Dominican Republic. In 1994, Suazo formed La Banda Gorda and has managed to find considerable international success with the group. Outside of his work with La Banda Gorda, Suazo has also found time to distinguish himself as a talented solo musician.
