Robert Schumann was a beloved German composer and music critic who is regarded as one of the great composers of the Romantic era. Though he began his musical career as a piano virtuoso, a hand injury ended his dream to become the best pianist in Europe. He turned his energy to composing and went on to produce some of the most beloved pieces of classical music the world has ever known. His masterpieces such as Symphony in C and Piano Concerto in A minor, Op. 54 are still celebrated in concert halls around the world.
