When the Mexican alternative rock band Zoe formed in the mid-1990s, two styles of music--grunge and Britpop--were achieving mainstream popularity. These two generes influenced the members of Zoe, who were living in Cuernavaca, Mexico at the time, and would come to define the group's unique sound. Though the band sings in Spanish, the group's instrumentals and song progressions are undeniabally influenved by many of the guitar rock sounds that emerged from the United States in the 1990s.
