Founded in 2013 by Dustin Bates, an electrical engineering student at the University of Ohio, Starset is an alternative rock band which makes highly conceptual music. Their music is built upon an elaborate backstory in which the band serves as a messenger for mysterious signals from space. They are known for their elaborate concerts, which they call "demonstrations" and for their wildly popular YouTube channel.
