Châteauroux is a football club that competes in Ligue 2, which is the second-tier football competition in France. The club was formed in 1916 and completed its 100 years in the game in 2016. A good part of its career is spent in the Ligue 2. The club, which is popularly known as Châteauroux, has won the league title once in 1997 and is yet to re-create this level of success. It is based in the town of Châteauroux and can be seen playing its home games at the Stade Gaston Petit.
