The Father by August Strindberg is a stage drama about Laura and Adolph, a married couple fighting over the future education of their daughter Bertha. While Laura wants Bertha to stay at home and to be an artist, Adolph wants Bertha to become a teacher. After a heated argument, Laura tells Adolph that he might not be Bertha's father, leading to a violent blowout and a tragically realistic end.
