James Bay is a singer/songwriter and guitarist who emerged out of the UK with an indie pop sound. Weaving threads of alternative rock and modern folk around his pop melodies, he crafts acoustic and uplifting songs that captivated a broad mainstream audience on EPs such as 2013's The Dark of the Morning and 2014's Hold Back the River. Bay released his debut album Chaos and the Calm, with Republic Records in 2015.
