Lady Windermere's Fan is an Oscar Wilde stage comedy that satirizes the hypocritical morals of Victorian society through the story of Lady Windermere. After discovering her husband's ongoing affair, Lady Windermere confronts Lord Windermere, only to be further insulted when he invites his mistress, Mrs. Erlynne, to her own birthday party. She leaves him for another lover, but is followed by Mrs. Erlynne, who is soon discovered to be Lady Windermere's mother. The resulting series of events offer a scathing critique of marriage and reputation during the late 19th century.
