Fun Home is a musical theater production based on graphic novelist Alison Bechdel's memoir of the same name. The story follows Alison's relationship with her father, Bruce, as she struggles with coming out as a lesbian and her father's subsequent death. Evoking real-world issues of family and secrets in a non-linear fashion, the musical transcends the traditional coming-of-age story and evovles into an aching yet beautiful depiction of the universal fear that we can never fully know people, even those closest to us.
