Ride the Midnight Express is a theater production based off of the true-life experiences of Billy Hayes, who was arrested at the Istanbul airport in 1970 for carrying two kilos of hashish. He was sentenced to a life-time in prison, where he scraped by for five years before daring to escape. Ride the Midnight Express is the emotional illustration of his harrowing journey back to the US, which includes having to row 17 miles across the ocean.
