About
Tampere United is a football club that represents the city of Tampere in the Finnish football league system. It was established in 1998 with the intention of merging the local football clubs FC Ilves and TPV. However, after TPV pulled out of the deal, Tampere United took FC Ilves’ place in the second division. The club gained promotion to the top flight a year after its formation, where it continued to compete until 2011. It has won multiple top-league titles and been crowned the champion of the Finnish and Finnish League Cups on multiple occasions.
