A Delicate Balance is a stage drama that tells the story of a highly dysfunctional upper-middle class family. Husband and Wife Tobias and Agnes live a stalled suburban existence, along with Anges's alcoholic sibling Claire. Their borden is interrupted when their long-time friends Harry and Edna show up at their door, supposedly frightened away from their home by some unspoken force. Soon after, their 36-year old daughter moves back home in the aftermath of her fourth divorce. Agnes and Tobias, incompetent when it comes to emotions and confrontation, are forced to deal with the anxieties of middle-aged life and the loss and fear that comes with it.
