Kuopion Palloseura, which is better known as KuPS, is a football team that competes in the Veikkausliiga, the top-tier football competition of Finnish football. The team is based in the city of Kuopio and plays its home games at Savon Sanomat Areena. It was founded in 1923 and it first tasted victory in the Savo district championship. It continued to step up its game and in 1947, it was promoted to the Mestaruussarja (later known as Veikkausliiga). Although it was relegated in the same season, it made a comeback in 1949 and created a record for maintaining this position consistently for 44 seasons. The team boasts an amazing history decorated with the many Veikkausliiga titles and Finnish Cup tournaments that it has won over the years.
