About
Hailing from San Diego, Wavves is a noise rock band that formed in 2008 as a three-piece outfit. Pairing the sunny disposition of Southern Californians with a gritty lo-fi aesthetic, the band's sound is often described as surf punk or beach punk despite its wanderings into indie and psychedelic rock. After Wavves released its self-titled debut album in 2008, the trio fit nicely into the pocket of muddy garage rock but has since expanded its sound with sharper guitar riffs on its acclaimed 2010 album, King of the Beach.
