C.F. Universidad de Costa Rica is one of the twelve teams that play in the country’s top tier football competition which is known as Liga FPD. The team uses the Jorge Hernán "Cuty" Monge Stadium as their home ground. The team was founded in 1941 as the Universidad Nacional and started playing in the Liga FPD. It has shown tremendous performances in the Liga FPD as well as the Segunda División games. Through its history, the team has won several Segunda División title and has also won the Liga FPD title.
