Deportivo Pereira is one of the twenty teams that compete for the title of Categoría Primera A which is the top-tier football competition of Colombia. It plays its home games at the Hernán Ramírez Villegas stadium and is blessed with impressive players like Edwin Villafuerte, Carlos Villagra and Diego Álvarez on its roster. It was founded in 1944 in the city of Pereira located in the Risaralda Department. Throughout its history, the team has won Categoría Primera B titles, played against many of the best Colombia teams and have competed in major tournaments including the Categoría Primera A.
