Boyacá Chicó Fútbol Club, which is also known by its nickname Los Ajedrezado (The Checkered), plays in the Categoría Primera A, which is the top-tier football league in the Columbia. The team was founded in Bogotá in 2002 and was named Deportivo Bogotá Chicó F.C. The team debuted in the Primera C league and won it the same year. The team was quick to establish itself as a worthy contender in the game. The team graduated to the Primera B in the next year and in 2006, it changed its base to Tunja and started playing under its current name. The team holds multiple Categoría Primera B titles and has also won the Categoría Primera A championship.
