Malatese is a psychedelic rock band from Harrisonburg, Virginia that is known for its catchy post-punk sounds. Typically featuring hypnotic drums, guitar bombasts, bass polyrhythms and manic vocals, the four-piece band is sure to give away unique live performances. Its front man, Travis Legg, usually goes all out during shows; going from pale to beet red, he gives off the most interesting vibes during performances. In Harrisonburg and its surrounding areas, the band has picked up popularity, in part because of the members' studies at local university JMU. Malatese released its EP Animal Relief, in 2014. With a sound dubbed trance-punk, the band's power to synchronize elements of hardcore punk, hip hop, and shoegaze into raw expressions is what makes Malatese stand out from the rest.
