Henan Jianye F.C. was founded in 1958 in the Henan province of Zhengzhou. The team plays its home games at Zhengzhou Hanghai Stadium and competes in the Chinese Super League. It was initially named Henan, but this was changed to Henan Construction until 2010 after which they started using its current name. The team did not play professional football for a long time, but this changed in 1994. The team was quick to establish itself as a worthy contender by winning the Chinese League One and Chinese League Two and in 2006, it paved its way into the Chinese Super League for the first time.
