Based on Can Themba's short story of the same name, The Suit is a stage production that tells the story of a husband and wife during Apartheid-era Johannesburg. A tale of resentment and forgiveness, the play begins when a husband walks in on his wife and her lover, who flees the scene, leaving nothing but his suit behind. As punishment, the husband commands his wife to address the suit as a house guest and carry it around everywhere she goes as an encumbering reminder of her affair. Powered by music and the lingering violence of the era, The Suit offers a haunting theater experience that has been acclaimed for both its simplicity and innovative staging.
