Though David Oakleaf has always had a strong love of music since he started singing and playing guitar at age 11, he wasn't able to pursue his artistic passion until a bit later in his life. Born and raised in Howard, Kansas, Oakleaf spent his formative years serving as a ranch hand, corralling cattle, spending days in the saddle and sweating under the hot great plains sun. He eventually got his break in 2007 after appearing on the televised talent competition Can You Duet on CMT. Though Oakleaf didn't win, he landed in the top 5 and managed to open a few industry doors and secure a professional move to the musical mecca of Nashville, Tennessee.
