The German basketball club, Niners Chemnitz e.V., is one of the competitors in the Basketball Bundesliga. The club is based in the city of Chemnitz and it plays its home games at the Chemnitz Arena. Its formation in 1999 was resulted due to the merger of Lok Chemnitz and BG Chemnitz. The newly formed club was named BV Chemnitz 99 and it debuted in the lower division games. But it didn’t stay there for too long. In 2002, it secured promotion to the second division ProA. It proceeded to spent almost two decades in the ProA and in 2020, it paved its way into the Basketball Bundesliga.
