Nahko and Medicine for the People is a modern folk outfit that's led by Oregon native and sixth generation Apache-Mohawk Nahkohe Parayno. Born to a Filipino father and a mother of Puerto Rican and Indian descent but raised by an adopted family in the suburbs, Parayno connected with his deep, sprawling roots through music. Along with his band, Medicine for the People, he crafts an accessible, modern folk sound powered by narratives and themes of sustainability, social justice and Indigenous rights.
