The Austin, Texas-based band Equals took a while to get to where it is. Initially forming while its members were still in high school, the group went through a number of varied stylistic evolutions before finding its footing with a cinematically intense instrumental sound. After a year of touring around Central Texas and absorbing the area's stark and oftentimes foreboding landscape, Equals wrote a collection of songs that would go on to be released as the band's self titled 2011 debut EP.
