Vir is a three-piece post punk outfit that emerged out of Oakland, California in the mid-2000s. With obvious shoegaze and noise pop influences powering its dark sonic aesthetic, the band dropped its first full-length album Shadow of a Mountain, in 2008. After gigging around the Bay Area and cultivating a strong local following, Vir began to spread its reach into national audiences with each subsequent release, including the 2010 LP, Gillespie.
