Melbourne Boomers

Melbourne Boomers is a professional women’s basketball team that represents Melbourne in the Women’s National Basketball League (WNBL). Formed in 1969, it featured in the WNBL for the first time in 1984 as Bulleen Boomers. While it was fairly successful in its early years, it would have to wait until 2011 to win its first championship. The next two years were transformative in terms of the teams identity as it moved to the State Basketball Centre in Melbourne in 2012 and was renamed as Melbourne Boomers a year later.
