About
St. John's IceCaps were based in the frozen province of Newfoundland and Labrador, yet over the course of its history, the franchise played everywhere from Manitoba, Montreal, Nova Scotia, Sherbrooke and Hamilton, even once in the U.S. as the Minnesota Moose. The IceCaps played as the minor league affiliate to the Montreal Canadiens and like many other teams in the AHL, St. John's players transferred in and out of the East Coast Hockey League as well. It moved to Canada's easternmost province in 2010, and beat the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins 5-0 in 2013 and subsequently battled for the Calder Cup against the Texas Stars, ultimately losing in five.
