When the Australian garage rock revival outfit The Vines first started playing, the group was a Nirvana cover band. Though the band began writing original tracks shortly after its inception, the group's sound still has strong ties to the '90s alternative rock scene. The Vines were part of the "The" band movement that the musical press proclaimed to be a savior of rock music. Though The Vines' notoriety has waned slightly, the group is still making hard hitting rock records and touring the world to support them.
