Just like many indie rock bands nowadays, Dumb Waiter are not afraid to experiment with a variety of styles. The instrumental band was launched in 2012 as a project based on improvisation, but soon enough the musicians discovered that they want to compose instead, incorporating improvisation into their tracks. The band pulls influences as diverse as math rock and jazz. The project's home base is Richmond, VA.
