Based in Houston, Texas, The Suffers is a soul-infused rocksteady band that borrows elements of jazz, afrobeat and even punk rock to craft its own distinctive sound. Fronted by singer/songwriter Kam Franklin, who lends the group much of its attitude with her heavy, soprano voice, the band released its first single, "Slow It Down," in 2013.
