Unlocking the Truth is a heavy metal band from New York that's comprised of Malcolm Brickhouse, Jarad Dawkins and Alex Atkins. Only sixth grade students in 2012, the young trio earned immediate acclaim for its unexpectedly brutal sound and acute technique at Amateur Night at the Apollo Theater, where it performed under the name Tears of Blood. Originally formed in 2007, the band changed its name to Unlocking the Truth and began earning a widespread following with appearances at festivals such as Austin's Fun Fun Fun Fest and New York's Afropunk Fest in 2013.
