Based on famous opera scenes by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Lorenzo Da Ponte, The Giacomo Variations is a chamber opera play written by Michael Sturminger, who worked with musical director Martin Haselbcok to adapt Casonova's themes into a dramatic and comedic adaptation of the story of Giacoma Casanova. The production finds Casanova at the end of his life, facing death and still trying to figure out the meaning of life beyond being desired by the object of our love. As he presents his memories to various characters, he discovers a renewed lust for life and consequently develops a more philosophical view of what he was living for.
