About

Picasso At The Lapin Agile is a play that was written by comedian Steve Martin in 1993. Telling the fictional story of Albert Einstein and Pablo Picasso meeting at a bar called the Lapin Agile in the Montmarte district of Paris, the two men launch into a lengthy debate about the importance of intelligence and talent while interacting with a number of other auxiliary characters. Set in 1904, while both men were on the verge of amazing ideas (Einstein with his special theory of relativity in 1905 and Picaso with his painting Les Demoiselles d'Avignon in 1907) their views on life, genius and innate aptitude differ greatly at times, but the two ultimately find common ground on a host of shared ideals.
