Lothar Zagrosek is a German conductor who has grown into one of the more recognizable figures of the European symphony orchestra community since beginning his career as a singer in a children's choir in 1954. Going on to study conducting from 1962 to 1967 under the tutelage of luminaries like Hans Swarowsky, Bruno Maderna and Herbert von Karajan, Zagrosek was instilled with a strong sense of rhythm, pacing and flair. Making his chief conducting debut with the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra in 1982, Zagrosek would also serve as principal guest conductor of the BBC Symphony Orchestra from 1985 to 1988 as well as the chief conductor of the Konzerthausorchester Berlin from 2006 to 2011.
