Baltimore, Maryland based trio Misery Index creates scathing, anarchistic death metal with prominent hardcore punk influences. Formed in 2001 by members of the metal band Dying Fetus, Misery Index took its name from the economic percentage term that adds the inflation rate to the unemployment rate - the band lives up to its name by focusing primarily on the negatives of society and politics. Though the band has had a constantly rotating cast of players, it has garnered quite a bit of renown on the metal scene and regularly tours worldwide.
