With the downfall of most organized religions, the idea of God, or Gods, is fairly interesting and one that should be examined closely by nearly everyone who's interested in what life holds for them after they die. The play Der Gute Mensch von Sezuan (English translation: The Good Person of Szechwan) looks at the notion of higher powers through a fictional case study. The plot surrounds a search a few Gods (pagan most likely) undertake to find a person that fits the guidelines they've set out for people who inhabit the planet earth. They stumble upon a kindhearted lady of the night living in Szechwan who takes the Gods in because they require shelter. Because of the harlot's offer to take in the Gods, they bestow upon her a kind gift of monetary funds and what she does with this money will determine whether or not the Gods lose their faith in mankind.
