Southern All Stars is a Japanese pop band formed in 1975 featuring Keisuke Kuwata as lead singer and guitarist, Kazuyuki Sekiguchi on bass, Hiroshi Matsuda on drums, Yuko Hara on keyboard, and Hideyuki Nozawa on percussion. In addition to playing musical instruments, all supporting musicians perform background vocals. Southern All Stars is one of the most famous bands in Japan and plays various genres of music including ballads, hard rock, hip-hop, techno and electronic rock. Each song expresses various different themes such as love, sex, the ocean, summer, their hometown, humor, and social satire. A compilation of the band's greatest hits, titled "Umi-no-Yeah!!," was produced in 1998 to mark the twentieth anniversary of their debut; it has sold over one million copies.
