Billy Crystal is an actor and comedian who rose to fame during the 1980s for his starring roles in movies like When Harry Met Sally and City Slickers. A New York City native, he spent the early portion of his career as a regular performer at the city's iconic comedy clubs, such as The Improv, and earned his first prominent television role on Soap, playing Jodie Dallas, one of the first openly homosexual character on American television. He went on to earn his own variety show, The Billy Crystal Comedy Hour, in 1982, and having hosted the Academy Awards multiple time, including the 84th ceremony in 2012, he has become a fixture in the world of entertainment from almost every angle, from production to the director's chair and stage performances to the big screen.
