About
Hal Holbrook is an actor from Cleveland, Ohio who is known for his interpretations of historical figures Mark Twain and Abraham Lincoln. His connection to Twain began while he was in college, when an extensive project on the famed author led him to create his own one-man show, Mark Twain Tonight, in 1954. The production, which Holbrook has continued to perform into the 2010s, has earned various critical accolades, including a Tony Award and a Drama Desk Award. Beyond the stage, he has also maintained a successful career on television as well as in film, with starring roles in the 1976 series Lincoln, and Sean Penn's 1996 film adaptation of Into the Wild.
