Based on the French play by Pierre Barillet, which was turned into a popular Broadway musical and an Academy Award winning film, Die Kaktusblüte or Cactus Flower, has continuously proved to be both a crowd and critic favorite. Die Kaktusblüte is a romantic comedy that follows the ploys of a successful dentist, Julien, who is romantically involved with a young and vivacious 21-year-old, Stephanie, but under the pretense that Julien is married with three children, a lie that Julien made up so he wouldn't feel pressured to marry Stephanie and could remain a bachelor. After a forlorn Stephanie attempts to commit suicide, Julien decides he does want to marry her, but realizes he needs a wife to pretend to divorce. Enlisting his spinster secretary, who also is in love with Julien, to play the role of his wife, the play unfolds as a farcical love triangle, the audience is sure to enjoy.
