Finally giving in to his desire to branch out into different types of music, Gary Lightbody of Snow Patrol formed the alternative country band Tired Pony in 2009. With a lineup of veteran musicians, including Lightbody, Richard Colburn, Iain Archer, Jacknife Lee, Peter Buck, Scott McCaughey and Troy Stewart, the group set out to produce "country-tinged" music, though emerged in 2010 with the folksy, Americana debut album, The Place We Ran From. Following the positive reception of its first album, Tired Pony released its sophomore effort, The Ghost of the Mountain, in 2013.
