About
Frölunda HC is a professional ice hockey team based out of Gothenburg, Sweden. First founded in 1938, the club currently competes in the SHL, its country's most highly competitive league. The team won its first national championship at the conclusion of the 1965 season and hosts its home games at Scandinavium in Gothenburg. Frölunda enjoyed a spike in international interest in 2004, when star Ottawa Senator forward Daniel Alfredsson joined his hometown team for a year due to the NHL's season-cancelling lockout.
