Abhijit Pohankar can be considered as the pioneer in introducing keyboard to the Indian classical music scene. His inspiration has undoubtedly been his renowned vocalist-father, Ajay Pohankar. He received training from the Santoor maestro, Pandit Shivkumar Sharma, after which he explored Indian classical rhythms along with lounge music. His famous album Piya Bawari, released in 2002 turned out not only as a nationwide hit, but was also introduced in the France Buddha Bar. Abhijit has held a distinct style that has been well-received internationally including his performances at prominent venues like the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall.
