The Rapture is a New York-based band that was a central figure in the rise of the post-punk rival scene of the early 2000s. Formed in 1998, the group released its debut album, Echos, in 2003, and the album's blend of disco, acid house and bombastic rock helped establish the band as an innovative group unafraid to indulge in musical sensibilities that some might think hokey. Building a solid reputation for itself with a rigorous touring schedule, the band was able to distinguish itself from its contemporaries with an engaging stage show that highlighted lead singer Luke Jenner's natural performance ability.
