Latin pop luminary Gloria Estefan is a singer/songwriter and actress who has captivated a massive international following through her uplifting pop hits. She got her start in the group Miami Sound Machine and rose to fame with the song "Conga," in 1985. Setting the tone for her career, the song became a cross-over hit and she was subsequently dubbed The Queen of Latin Pop. Despite suffering through a nearly fatal tour bus accident in 1990, Estefan continued to break ground with a comeback album titled Into the Light, which she released a year later in 1991. While many pop singers lose steam due to the ever-change landscape of modern music, she has managed to hold on to her pop royalty status by incorporating subtle elements of EDM into her already dance-friendly style while also maintaining her integrity as a thoughtful and poignant songwriter.
