Date Palms is an experimental psych band from Oakland, California, that is centered on the duo of keyboardist Gregg Kowalsky and violinist Marielle Jakobson. Inspired by a wide range of sounds, from minimalism to country and spiritual jazz to traditional Indian music, the band creates an ambient brand of experimental noise. After forming in 2008, Date Palms released its debut EP, Of Psalms, in 2010, before evolving into full, four-piece outfit and dropping its first LP, The Dusted Sessions, in 2013.
