Founded in 1946, The Nashville Symphony is a symphonic music orchestra based in Nashville, Tennessee. Rooted from a group of amateur and professional musicians who performed during the 1920 and disbanded during The Great Depression, the ensemble played its first concert at the War Memorial Auditorium in downtown Nashville and has since established itself as one of the city's preeminent sources of artistic excellence. Holding over 140 performances a year, The Nashville Symphony opened its new concert hall, the Schermerhorn Symphony Center, in 2006.
